Much like most of New Brunswick’s cities, Edmundston is incredibly walkable. That said, as you walk along this beautiful place, you’ll find a lot of historical buildings along the way, most of which have been built as Edmundston began developing into the beautiful city that it is today. Most of Edmundston’s main attractions can all be found in a six block radius. The tourist office offers a Leisure Walk Map that provides two walking routes: the first focuses on the city’s shopping places, and the second is a scenic walk covering the historical highlights of Edmundston. The Leisure Walk Map also briefly details the three main churches of Edmundston, the blockhouse, the City Hall, and the train station. And yes, the tourist office also offers a foodie walking tour you must sign up for.

Visit the Fortin du Petit-Sault

The Fortin du Petit-Sault (small falls) blockhouse was erected in 1841 by the British army during the height of the border wars with the United States of America. The fort was abandoned when the war ended peacefully the following year. The small falls blockhouse was rebuilt in 2000 after a lightning bolt destroyed it.
